A special program by Cecilia Cossio
“I can’t stand to see it dressing a strange language anymore: the A’chik, a language without a written form, which has to “wear” other people’s words. Ianche is a poet of Garo origins who is tormented by this, the protagonist of Rong’Kuchak (Echi), the movie by Dominic Megam Sangma (Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkata), who was awarded a prize for his constant contribution to cinema as a form of art at the 2015 edition of the Ca’ Foscari Short Film Festival. We propose once again a summary of the film as introductory moment to this special dedicated to the Garos, indigenous people settled in Meghalaya, northeast of India.
