A special program by Indranil Bhattacharya and Cecilia Cossio
This year Ca’ Foscari Short Film Festival dedicates to an important Indian school of cinema, the Film and Television Institute of India, a special programme organized by Indranil Bhattacharya and Cecilia Cossio.
The five short films presented in this special program are diploma films of some famous FTII students. One by Kumar Shahani, jury member of the Ca’ Foscari Short Film Festival 2014, and one by Mani Kaul. These two authors were students of Ritvik Ghatak and are today legendary names, authors of new radical films also in the circle of the “Parallel Cinema”, an artistic tendency emerged in India in the late Sixties, parallel to mainstream productions. Along with Shahani and Kaul, two young directors and their films are presented, Amit Dutta e Umesh Kulkarni, nowadays internationally renowned. Finally, the diploma film directed by Andrea Iannetta, the only Italian student admitted at FTII so far. His film is already known in Italy and abroad.
