A special program by Fabio Francione
In December, last year, Giulio Questi died in his 90th year.
Thanks to the publication of Uomini e comandanti (Einaudi, 2014), a short story collection on life in the Italian resistance, and with his memoir Se non ricordo male (Rubbettino, 2014), this shy and exuberant artist has finally received the recognition he deserves.
A complex and multifaceted character, Questi, after beginning as a documentary director, he becomes assistant director to great artists such as Rosi and Zurlini, while also screenwriting and acting. In 1967 he directs Se sei vivo spara, a particularly violent spaghetti western. In 1968 directs La morte ha fatto l’uovo, a social commentary fil with an exceptional cast (among others, Gina Lollobrigida and Jean-Louis Trintignant). During the last years of his life he privately studied digital technology and reinvents himself as an artisan of new technologies, creating new and experimental features. After the Turin Film Festival, the Ca’ Foscari Short Film Festival homages Giulio Questi with a special programme where will be presented some experimental short films that he realized during the last years of his life.
A specital thanks to Questi’s family
