A program edited by Ca' Foscari
The Master of Arts course in Fine arts in filmmaking, a first-level course offered by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice and directed by professor Roberta Novielli, will come to the end of its first cycle on 5 March 2018. On the same occasion, Alberto Barbera, director of the Venice International Film Festival, will hold a lectio magistralis.
The Master’s Degree in Fine Arts in Filmmaking aims to give its students both practical and theoretical tools for creating films and multimedia contents for advertising, music and video-artistic contents.
The Ca’ Foscari Short Film Festival celebrates the end of its first cycle dedicating a special program to the works created by its student during this year, starting from the video tutorials Venezia Your Home, aimed to both tourists and residents with the aim of raising awareness about the rules to be adopted within the urban context, through short ironic videos that propose the daily situations of the reality of Venice, with references to famous movies.
Dedalus is a collective exercise, born from the collaboration of all the students alternating in the various roles of the filmmaking process.
Finally, the students have created three short films as the result of three group works, which are their full-fledged graduation films.
SCREENING PROGRAM:
VENEZIA YOUR HOME (Italy, 2017, 8 videos of about 1’ each)
The project aims to educate and raise awareness of both tourists and residents about the rules to follow in the city of Venice. Through these 8 ironical video-tutorials, full of references to famous films, a number of typical situations happening in Venice everyday will be presented.
DEDALUS, collective direction (Italy, 2018, 5’40”)
Free adaptation of a story by Raymond Carver.
VIOLA by Corinna Rombi (Italy, 2018, 15’37”)
Viola sets on a journey of personal liberation from her brother Damiano, a noxious and smothering presence in her life. The girl’s freedom will come thanks to her friend Max’s intervention.
TEATRO DEI PIOMBI (LEAD THEATRE) by Tommaso Giacomin (Italy, 2018, 13’16”)
Venice, the Seventies: Renato and Beatrice are two left-wing university students whose relationship will be put to the test between propaganda theatre and the hard truth of the Years of Lead.
LIN-DA – LA PRIMA GONDOLA (LIN-DA THE FIRST GONDOLA) by Angelo Girardello (Italy, 2018, 22’)
A former gondolier, now a taxi driver, tells the story of his long lost love with a Gondola.
