SYNOPSIS: Diëgo is a young father and student of cinema affected by ADHD. He asks himself if the role of parent is really suitable for him. He do it through a scene that portrays his relationship with his adopted son, Dennis, suffering from autism, and Dennis’s mother, Jolien. In this way emerges the Jolien’s connection with his son and the way in which she is always able to calm him down. The love and patience of the woman become the force of Diëgo in his journey. With this animated documentary, Diëgo Nurse offers a reflection on the link between parent and child, while analyzing the difficulties of growing and relating with others for individuals affected by neurodevelopmental disorders.
BIOGRAPHY: Born in Suriname, Diëgo Nurse started acting when he was just a child in a national tv soap, then he started to appear in short documentaries on children with disabilities with Ruby Pocorni, the only female director in Suriname. Diëgo moved to Amsterdam and he finally enrolled at the LUCA – ART of Bruxelles, where every year he participated in different film festivals. He is currently presenting his third-year graduation project, Hugs and Hurricane, a documentary in which Diëgo tries to build up the relationship with his 4-year old autistic son and himself, who suffers from ADHD.
