SYNOPSIS: Diëgo Nurse brings to the screen the story of Beyong, a young transgender of Latin descent. She tells her own process of self-discovery and acceptance of her most intimate and true nature, namely a beautiful and independent woman who isn’t afraid of being true to herself.
During this difficult story, she overcomes manifold psychological and emotional hurdles until she finally finds the strength to undergo a physical change thanks to her mother’s unconditioned support. The protagonist Beyong has a strong scenic presence and her close-ups are alternated with a rather delicate animation, which is employed by Diëgo as a filter to tell the most sensitive episodes of her past. The musical score is the fundamental link between documentary and animation, since it evokes an atmosphere of stillness, constant struggle with her own demons and emotions and a desire for freedom that bursts in full force in the sentence «I’m a beautiful woman».
