A special program by Eugenio De Angelis
The Ca’ Foscari Short Film Festival will host a selection of works from the last three editions of Madrid en Corto, a festival born in Madrid in 2005 which presents short movies realized by Spanish directors supported by the Department of Culture and Tourism of Madrid. The Festival is promoted and organized by ECAM, one of the most important schools of the Iberian Peninsula, in a distributing effort that doesn’t only care about the school’s prestige, but more in general about the development and the promotion of Spanish directors. In the case of Madrid en corto, the presence of already formed directors is evident in products that can be considered as professional from every point of view: they have well defined authorial features so there is a great variety of styles, tones and genres, but they are all united by a high-quality standard.
SAFARI, by Gerardo Herrero (Spain, 2014, 15’)
In a normal American high school a terrible massacre is going to happen. The violence is conveyed on the scene with great rigor and figurative strength, in a story rooted in youth unease.
FICCIÓN, by Miguel Angel Cárcano (Spain, 2014, 12’)
Two actors are rehearsing trying to follow the director’s recommendations. A game of masks between fiction and reality that play mockingly with the spectator expectation.
NOT THE END, by César Esteban Alenda & José Esteban Alenda (Spain, 2015, 20’)
David decides to live once again his first meeting with Nina. Love story and science fiction are unified in a story of great emotional impact.
EL PESCADOR, by Alejandro Suárez (Spain, 2015, 20’)
One night Wong, a fisher in Hong Kong, catches something that does not belong to this world. An effective commingling of realism and horror with amazing digital special effect.
LAS RUBIAS, by Carlota Martínez Pereda (Spain, 2016, 17’)
A thriller with comedy tones from which emerge a entertained critics to the consumer society, embodied by the stereotyped blond girl fan of shopping and brand clothes.
MADE IN SPAIN, Coke Riobóo (Spain, 2016, 11’), Animation
A nonsense adventure, hilarious and provocative, realize in stop-motion and setted on a sunny Spanish beach.
Special thanks to: ECAM.
