SYNOPSIS: 1960s Rome. Italo is a young boy keen on philosophy and there he works, although listless, at RAI studios (the Italian public broadcasting company) as Mr. Palombi’s assistant. Palombi forces him to go back to the place where he was born, Elcito, a small town right in the heart of the Marchigian Apennines inhabited by no more than few elderly people. Actually, his duty is to act as translator between Elcito’s inhabitants and his boss. The two men are looking for people who cannot neither read nor write to make them leading actors in an educational TV show. Its aim is clear: to allow everyone, even the illiterate ones, to learn, understand and be aware of the existence of those voiceless signs which let us hear someone’s voice.
