SYNOPSIS: The melancholic violin notes open this short film set in 1944 and telling about deportation and persecution of Rom population in Hungary. What looks like a meeting between old friends soon turns into a clash of different point of views. Antal accuses Frici of hiding the Rom musician Jànos to prevent his deportation to the border, where Rom are dispatched to build fortifications, and thus of being guilty of civil disobedience. Recurring words like “homeland”, “help” or “beasts” make us all reflect on the present situation of migrants and nationalisms.
