Cinema was born “short”: it is with this phrase that our story begins. Not a bad logline, is it? Tradition that finds along its way a companion, i.e. innovation. It is a simple but not simplistic innovation: short cinema as an everyday choice for the general public, streaming as a means to fulfil the mission, whenever and wherever you like. This is what we like to think. In the present era, in a society that is always in a rush, where even the perception of time has changed, WeShort is instead adopting a rebranding of the word short film on the market, and this is what triggered the collaboration with the Ca’ Foscari Short International Film Festival, for the third consecutive year we are going to present Great Short Cinema. What you will discover with WeShort is that the short film is not a niche for a few, but an unexplored universe for millions of people, a leisure for when you don’t have the time, the concentration and the desire to follow films and series for hours on end.
In the WeShort Originals & Branded Shorts program we present Caramelle, a 3D animated short film, the first WeShort Originals, produced by Panebarco and Mediterraneo Cinematografica, made with the contribution of the Emilia Romagna Film Commission, already winner of the Audience Award at Alice nella Città as part of the Rome Film Festival in 2022.
Part of theWeShort mission is to enhance the short-form brand entertainment and help the development of new short films and short series in which companies invest to tell about them. We are going to present Guinness World Records Shorts, a two-episode premiere that tells the extraordinary story of record-breaking people. Historically known for its TV shows and even before that for the famous record book, Guinness World Records, the company established by Arthur Guinness, exactly the same Arthur who founded the famous Irish beer, makes its first series of short films, launched as a world premiere on WeShort in December 2022, adopting a bold, motivating and exciting choice for those of us who believe that the future of cinema is short.
Short films are the quintessence of the seventh art, the most genuine expression of talent, passion and creativity not constrained by the exorbitant budgets of the big majors that make a distant, often spoiled and wasteful cinema. We believe in the talents we have on WeShort, they are the future Spielberg, Tarantino, Lynch, Tornatore and Sorrentino.
Welcome to WeShort. In Short We Trust!

WeShort Originals presents the short Caramelle, which tells about a very strong emotional bond that connects three generations: father/grandfather, daughter/mother, grandson/son. An extremely strong relationship that crosses the boundaries between life and death, the earthly world and the afterlife, in an atmosphere of fascinating magical realism. The story is simple: Lucia is a 40-year-old woman who occasionally visits her father’s grave in the city cemetery. One day she finds a candy-coloured wrapper on the grave. The curious episode will happen several times, until Lucia discovers that…
