SYNOPSIS: As fires rage in the Amazon hundreds of miles away, a young nurse Lucia senses something
off in raising in the air and begins to have doubts about her pregnancy. A reluctant favor to
her ailing grandmother brings Lucia to a neo-Pentecostal church, where she becomes
drawn by a charismatic young parisher and her faith.
PROFILE: Jasmin Tenucci has written, directed or produced films in Brazil, Iceland, Pakistan, and the United States. Her most recent short film, August Sky (2021), won Special Mention of the Jury at the Cannes 2021 Official Selection. In addition, she directed four episodes of the Brazilian television series Shop Tudo (Glaze Entretenimento/Fall 2021). Beyond her work as a filmmaker, Jasmin has years of experience in the Brazilian television industry and has written for numerous episodic series. Currently, she lives in São Paulo, where she is developing two feature films that she will direct: August Sky, based on her short of the same name; and The Smallest Whale in the World, which won the 2017 Alfred P. Sloan Development Grant.
