SYNOPSIS: The film follows the story of Ellie, a young girl from a violent home. The 9-year-old seems to escape from her harsh reality by spending her days in the woods of a nearby scrapyard with her friend, Pete. There, the pair have built a new home for themselves. One night, after witnessing the horrifying abuse of her mother, Ellie decides to come back home and confront her stepfather.
BIOGRAPHY: Born in 1993 in Lisbon, Vasco studied Media Communication at EPCI, in his hometown, and Marketing at CEU San Pablo University, Madrid, before moving to London in 2017 to study Film at Middlesex University, where he won a Royal Television Society Award with his graduation film, which he wrote and directed, ‘Yard Kings’. In 2021, he moved to Edinburgh as one of the four selected fiction directors at the MA programme at Screen Academy Scotland.
