SYNOPSIS: Alvida tells the story of Miraal, a young Muslim woman. When she stops receiving news from her partner who has left for work reasons, she decides to embark on a journey to Kerala in search of her missing husband. Her daughter Naureen and her neighbour Jyoti, who has also been left alone, accompany her in the search. The film delicately and movingly explores themes such as grief, migration and gender roles.
PROFILE: Dilu Maliackal studied Communication Design at the National Institute of Design, Madhya Pradesh, India. Her passion for storytelling has driven her to use creation and filmmaking as means of expression, which eventually culminated in the production of her debut short fiction Chirath, in 2020. This work was made after two poignant documentaries, Zahreela and Bagawat – the Rebellion. Alvida (2023), is her graduation report.
