PROFILO: Augustė Gerikaitė is a short fiction and documentary film director based in Vilnius. She grew up in a small coastline Lithuanian town, Kretinga. Her passion for film started when she was in primary school, when she started making very short films with her classmates. Life in a small town gave her the possibility to observe and analyze human relations and interactions. Since then, such interest has become a main topic and point of interest for Auguste. After she graduated from high school, Auguste took a two-year course in photography in Vilnius and at the same time she was making attempts to learn more about the process of film directing by working on set as a production assistant in Lithuanian feature films. She is currently studying film directing at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA) in Vilnius; she is also teaching film acting for adults and working in the costume department at an international level.
